The Strokes will be performing their first concert at Manhattan’s Madison Square Garden on April 1st, nearly two weeks after the release of their new album Angles on March 22nd. The show was announced in a tweet  yesterday by frontman Julian Casablancas. Tickets for the show will go on sale February 25th.

The Strokes’ show at the Garden will be one day before their peers in LCD Soundsystem perform the final gig of their career there. Hopefully fans of the Strokes will have less difficulty acquiring tickets — the LCD Soundsystem show was almost instantly sold out thanks to aggressive scalpers.

Hey All,

Max here, this post is coming to you I believe somewhere above middle America. In flight wifi, who’da thunk it? Just thought that today since we don’t have an episode I would give the cliff notes on what we are thinking about this week. First off I’d like to say that my fabulous cohost and I had an excellent ride back. We listened to a lot of Talking Heads, Idlewild, Gospel Claws and The New Pornographers. It was a splendidly long 9 hour drive but It was fun.

I encountered a very cool new album this week which is called Alivelectric by The Slip. If any of you haven’t heard the Slip’s studio album Eisenhower, I would highly recommend it. This live album is a lot more jammy than the studio one. It only contains one or two songs from Eisenhower. Everyone who likes jam rock or kind of out there mostly quasi-instrumental music should check out the slip especially you all in Vermont who love jams. They are officially described as “Contemporary Avant-Rock” Check them out here.

In other music news apparently rapper Akon believes Michael Jackson is still alive. Huh? What the f***? Really Akon? We didn’t go through almost six months of mourning a dead musician/pedophile for nothing did we?

Also, the Beatles have already sold over two million tracks on itunes! Thats awesome for the Beatles. I already have the whole discography and probably does most of the crew so good for everyone who is buying the Beatles.

This is a sad week for new releases folks well anyways for the kind of music that I don’t like. This week we have Kanye, Kesha (I refuse to use $), Ne-Yo, Nicky Minaj, My Chemical Romance, and next week we have Bieber. I have had it with this BS! When are we going to see another Shins album? What about some more from Phoenix or Cage The Elephant? Please god of music, give us something good soon.

The last thing I wanted to say is that in honor of UVMtv’s Premiere night we will be doing Exile live from Brennans on Tuesday evening! Be there or be square!
